Things To Do at Western Motel - Shamrock, Texas

Texas has a long, rich history, and Route 66 has been one of America’s most famous roads. That is why when they come together in Shamrock, you know that you will be able to find unique area attractions and landmarks that you won’t be able to find anywhere else.

The Conoco Tower Station has long been an important local landmark and one that you may be able to see from your guest room! This tall art deco building has been preserved and offers a unique glimpse into the architecture of the day. At one time, the Pioneer West Museum was an active hotel in the 1920s. Today, it houses a two-story museum of 25 rooms packed with artifacts and history. The Shamrock Country Club has been a local golf spot, offering nine holes in a private course setting. The course is opened daily from 8:30 in the morning until sundown and offers a free round to visitors. Also right down the road, is the Shamrock Water Tower. This longstanding landmark is the tallest water tower in all of Texas at over 172 feet fall.

Conoco Tower Station

The iconic Conoco Tower Station is still a top attraction for our town. Currently, this restored art deco building is home to a visitor’s center, as well as where you can find the U-Drop In Café. This unique station was originally built in the 1930s and restored later on. At night, the Conoco Tower Station truly shines with its unique neon lighting. This local landmark is where many public events are held, and this blast from the past even offers charging stations for Tesla vehicles.

The Pioneer West Museum

The Pioneer West Museum offers a unique glimpse into the local area’s history and culture, featuring many unique exhibits focused on the Great Plains Indian tribes of the area up to the era of the Apollo XII Moon Mission. Guests can walk through this 25-room museum and discover many unique historical and cultural artifacts, as well as early dentist and doctor’s offices, cowboys, early school houses, and much more. If you love learning about American history, the Pioneer West Museum is one of the best in the area.

Shamrock Country Club

The Shamrock Country Club has been the go-to half course in the area. This nine-hole course with putting green is opened daily and offers guests a great way to spend time outdoors. Other areas to note on the course are the chipping green, the driving range, and water on the fairways. Best of all, you can play a round for free.
